Carnegiea gigantea, also called Saguaro cactus, is famous because its enormous size of upto 18 meters. The main trunk grows like a candelabra when Carnegiea gigantea is older. The cactus bears flowers only at high age (70-75 years!). Saguaro cactus is a slow grower and does not like cultivation errors. Give this cactus a gritty, mineral cactus soil with high drainage. Minimum temperatures should not drop below 10 degrees Celsius.
