Mammillaria theresae (syn. Mammillaria saboae v. theresae) together with Mammillaria goldii, Mammillaria saboe and Mammillaria haudeana was discovered around 1960. This cactus is native to the Coneto mountains within the Mexican state of Durango (Sierra Madre). Mammillaria theresae is found usually within moss which covers rocks (at altitudes of around 2000 meters). This mammillaria cactus is highly adapted to fluctuations in temperature which are common in these regions.
Growing Mammillaria theresae from seed can be a hard task if you are not experienced. A mineral soil with good drainage is essential for older plants as well as for raising these cacti from seed. Mammillaria theresae should be watered with care in summer and kept completely dry in winter.
