Allready known for a long time but in1996 the Cintia group was registered and written about. There is one species in this cactus group: Cintia knizei. It is a small and short cactus. Flowers are yellow. Cintia is native to Bolivia (Nor Cinti) where it grows in a rocky soil, sometimes at heights of 2800-3800 meters. Cultivation can be difficult. The plant requires a very porous and gritty soil to protect its fleshy stem from overwatering. Seedlings are usually grafted on Pereskiopsis or Trichocereus to speed up growth. As stated, Cintia is a real mountain plant and needs a sunny position an d good ventilation. Keep dry in winter at a minimum temperature of around 10 °C. Also check our Cintia knizei seeds.
