Cylindropuntia (incl. Austrocylindropuntia, Corynopuntia, Marenopuntia and Micropuntia) is considered a subspecies of Opuntia. The stems are round and elongated. They lack any kind of ribs. Cylindropuntia is a highly branching group of Opuntia. Over time they form bushes or trees. Cylindropuntia species are mainly found in Mexico, Peru and Chile. Most Opuntia species grow well in regular cactus soil with good drainage. Minimum temperatures range from -21 °C to 13 °C.
