Hylocereus (syn. Cereus) are climbing and freely branching forest plants. A widely known species is Hylocereus undates which is used as a grafting stock. Hylocereus is found in many different regions from Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala and San Salvador to the West Indies. These cacti need bright light and grow fin on a regular cactus soil. Minimum temperatures should not drop below 15 °C.
