Rhipsalis is a large group of epiphytic cacti native mostly to Brazil and other parts of South America. They are trailing and climbing, leaflike plants which produce small but very nice flowers. Most Rhipsalis species require filtered light to partial shade which makes them very suitable as house plant. These cacti grow fine in regular cactus soil. Minimum winter temperatures need to be around 10-13 °C. Propagation is usually done by taking stem cuttings. Raising Rhipsalis from seeds is also possible if seeds are available.
